Proof of English Proficiency not required, but students with proof can be exempted from ESL placement testing.
After graduation from PCC, international students transfer to top-ranked national universities, for example Cornell University (#14), University of Washington (#56), and University of Oregon (#103). Students in health care fields transfer to Oregon Health and Science University, one of the top 5 US medical schools (primary care). Portland State University is a popular choice for many fields, including Engineering students who often find paid internships in the growing tech industry in Portland.
Students can gain valuable skills in paid leadership positions in student government and at many campus centers as International Student Ambassadors and Peer Leaders. Volunteer opportunities abound.
Each PCC campus hosts student clubs that bring students together for common interests and to experience new things.
ACTIVITIES + TRIPS
PCC offers international students many activities on- and off-campus to get to know the area and meet new friends. The Office of International Student Services takes trips throughout the city and to the surrounding beach, mountains, forests, and rivers.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the official community college honors society with over 90 years of recognizing academic excellence. Membership is based on academic achievement. PTK has over $90 million in scholarship opportunities each year.
